There is now a lot cheaper to become a member of the Student Union of Dalarna
and you pay a nominal sum at the entrance to each pub night. This makes it easier for us to offer the very best for you during the semester to come.

To visit our pub nights, you must be a registered student at Dalarna University. The proof of this is that each time you must bring valid ID and student card that will be sent home to you. In the beginning of the semester, we go on a system from the University, which allows us to see if you are a student at the Dalarna University, so you do not have to worry about your student card yet.

For those of you who have Student Union of Dalarna cards that are valid until
2010-09-30 can use these to the expiration date.

Are you a member of the Student Union of Dalarna you are able to buy the Event pass which means that the only night you have to pay for is the major events, and even then it is a reduced price. With major events means opportunities like in-/utspark, PPP, Kåre swings and times when we take in artists and bands.

The Event pass costs 100 SEK / semester.

it costs 60 SEK for a guest to enter and their host must of course be a student
at Dalarna University.

!In the preludes of the Autumn semester the pressure on the housingcompanys is very intensive and this have resulted in most of the student accomodations being locked in bookings. The housing companies Kopparstaden (Falun) and Tunabyggen (Borlänge) calms us with the fact that they believe that there will be no shortage of accomodations, though it can take a couple of weeks into the semester before they have sorted all the bookings out and have offered all students an accomodation.

Dalarnas studentkår works together with the university to solve this problem and we hope to be able to offer a temporary accomodation in case it is needed. Meanwhile we have created a service on the homepage where we publish ads to private accomodations.

Dalarnas studentkår and Dalarna University have signed an agreement that means that Dalarna University gives financial support to Dalarnas studentkår. With this support the student union will be able to continue the educational monitoring and the work with the study social questions for the students of Dalarna University.

The University and the student union are unanimous that an strong student influence are at great importance for the educations continuing quality.

- The governments direct compensation is less than what is reasonable to compensate the student unions loss of income in connection with the abolishment of the mandatory union fee that took place halfway through this year, commentated Marita Hilliges, principal at Dalarna University. We hope that the model of additional compensation direct from the University will work so that Dalarnas studentkår can continue their work to preserve and develop the educational quality

Despite the abolishment of a mandatory student union fee as of July 1st, you’d have to have been a member in the student union those terms you have been studying ad Dalarna University leading up to the coming abolishment.

Please note that all courses which began before 1th of July will still be legally covered by the mandatory student union membership.

As a result of the abolishment of the mandatory student union fee, Dalarnas studentkår has chosen to change our organisation. The number of people in the student union committee will be reduced from four til two persons (President and Vice president) and two new posts have been appointed, an administrative assistant and one studentrepresentative (learn more about theese two posts under the title employees)

Dalarnas studentkår have also decided to reduce the membership fee to 150 SEK per person and term. Theese funds will be used in the educational and quality assurance that Dalarnas studentkår are mainly focusing on

As a member at Dalarnas studentkår you will be eligable to take part of services and offers, as access to an digitalized archive with old exams, membershipdiscounts at several locations.

If you pay the membership fee to Dalarnas studentkår you will be eligable to purchase an “party-pass”, this pass will give you access to our studentpubs and nightclubs free of charge. If you choose not to purchase this pass you’ll of course be able to visit our pubs and nightclubs, but an entrancefee will be taken out. To be able to buy this pass you have to be a member of the student union.

Throughout this whole year, Dalarnas studentkår have prepared for what will be the biggest change in the student movement since 1667 when the foundation to the long Swedish student union history and tradition was laid down in Uppsala.

The strong Swedish student influence is one to be proud of, and one that is sometimes taken for granted here in Sweden. Students’ possibilities to influence our own education and situation as students in Sweden are slowly dismantling and the only way to stop that is to stand up for student rights.

So make your stand for student rights and the student movement this fall and be a member of Dalarnas studentkår. To what extent you choose to engage in the student movement is, and has to be, up to each individual. Either way, your support counts. No one can do everything but everyone can do something!
